my name is emma wahlstrom. i am eighteen years old. i am a sophomore in college at california state polytechnic university pomona, majoring in graphic design and minoring in marketing management.
i got my first camera as a sophomore in high school. after a year of playing with my treasured toy and a lot of encouragement from a mentor, a brave soul took me under her wing and taught me the ropes of wedding photography. i worked as her assistant and one of her second shooters for over a year. i still second shoot weddings, but I work with a couple different photographers.
photography is my escape. i have complete freedom when i have a camera in my hands. the potential is infinite for what i am trying to capture. i know i have so much to learn about my camera, my subjects, and my creative eye. however, i believe the only way i can learn is by picking up my camera every day and looking at something a little differently than everyone else.
i live for capturing little moments. my favorite feeling in the world is the one you get in your chest when someone smiles at a photo you took of them. you know the one that feels like little butterflies are wrapping your heart in a blanket burrito? the ones that pass quickly, but when you're in one, it seems to last a lifetime. moments so ordinary that we forget how special they are, like a side-splitting laugh or a gaze you share with a special someone that you thought no one noticed. my favorite feeling in the world is the one you get in your chest when someone smiles at a photo you took of them. you know, the one that feels like little butterflies are wrapping your heart in a blanket burrito?
okay enough with the boring words! you came here for the pictures.
p.s. if everything goes as planned, this thing is only going to get better from here.
